High Protein French Toast

Enter the BEST protein French toast recipe. What makes it the best? You get to use your favorite bread AND your favorite protein powder in the same recipe.This recipe is so simple and will definitely became a weekend staple. 

I like to use a thin-sliced bread for this recipe because it creates more volume and gets crispier. Here are some thin-sliced bread options: Dave Killer Bread 100% Whole Wheat Thin-Sliced Bread (found at many grocery stores), Trader Joe's Organic Ancient Grain & Seed Bread (found at Trader Joe's), Pepperidge Farm Whole Grain Thin-Sliced Bread (found at Target). 

Ingredients

  • 3 slices thin-sliced bread go high-protein!
  • 1 egg or 3 egg whites for higher-protein option
  • 1 serving vanilla protein powder
  • ¼ cup almond milk
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • optional but recommended toppings: maple syrup, powdered sugar, fresh fruit 

Instructions

Mix 1 egg, 1 serving protein powder, milk, and cinnamon together in a small bowl. Then stir vigorously until well combined. Dip pieces of bread into the mixture and cover completely. Heat up a larger skillet over medium high.Spray skillet with cooking grease.Add bread to the skillet and cook for 2 mins on one slide. Flip and cook for another minute, then repeat this process until all the bread is cooked. Top with syrup and powdered sugar. Enjoy!
